Police Testifies in 4billion Theft Case at CYMAIN Ghana Ltd

Police Constable 11676 Kamara AI attached to the Economic and Financial Crime Unit at the criminal investigation department (CID) has testified in the case involving nine accused persons including Mohamed Bah who are charged to court in connection with an allegation of theft at CYMAIN Ghana Ltd Construction Company.

The accused persons are before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road court No.1 on three count charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

It was stated on the face of the charge sheet on count one that on a date unknown,  between 1st January 2019 and 15th April 2021, at SLRA compound Port Loko town, Maforkie Chiefdom,  Northern Province of Sierra Leone,  the accused persons conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit Larceny.

On count two, it was alleged that on the same date and place, the accused persons stole properties worth four billion, fifty seven million, four hundred and ninety thousand Leones belonging to CYMAIN Ghana Ltd Company while in custody of Mitchell Mainoo.

On count three the accused were alleged to have stolen other items at the company worth one billion, four hundred and twenty two million, three hundred and thirty one thousand Leones.

Witnessed said he was on duty when one Michael Mainoo went and made a report against all nine accused persons including others who they are investigating.  He said they obtained statement from him and during the process he explained all what have been stolen.

He said on the 17th of April, DPC 145 Sesay M and himself left Freetown for Port Loko where they arrested the accused persons at the company work yard SLRA and obtained statement from them separately.

During the arrest, he said the name of the first accused was mentioned.

At that stage the matter was adjourned to the 9th August 2021
