Police Tender 62 Grams Of Kush In Court

The exhibit clerk attached to the Trans National Organized Crime Unit Hastings detective police Constable 13905 has produced and tendered sixty-two grams of Kush and other items in the matter between the inspector General of Police and John Koroma.

The accused is before the court on Preliminary Investigation on three count charges of unlawful possession of high-risk drugs to wit Kush contrary to section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act of 2008.

It was alleged that on Monday 30th January 2023, at Dundas Street the accused was found in possession of Kush contained in two transparent dispensary bags weighing sixty-two grams without lawful authority.

He was also found with other substances without lawful authority.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police Christiana Davis Cole, the exhibit clerk said he is responsible to receive exhibits, registering them in the court exhibit book and presenting same in court when needed.

He said he recognized the accused person.

Led further, the exhibit clerk said on 6th February 2023 he was on duty when detective Sergeant 18310 Kanu M H handed over to him the following exhibits including two transparent dispensary bags containing Kush weighing 62 grams, seventeen blue tables weighing 9.2 grams, a quantity of acid ton in a white container, one black and Silva scale, and the sum of one hundred and thirty-seven thousand old Leones.

He said he received and registered them against serial number 08/ 2023 and since then they have been in his custody.

The exhibit clerk produced and tendered them to form part of the court record.

Cross Examined by defense counsel C. Campbell; the witness said what he presented are not the only exhibits in the store.

He said he named the exhibits based on the forensic report by the analyst.

At the end of cross-examination, the matter was adjourned to the 23rd of February 2023.
