POLICE SCHOOL POLICE ON TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

On Saturday 23rd October 2021, the Directorate of Traffic Management and Road Safety in the Sierra Leone Police, AIG Kapr Saidu  Kamara has engaged divisional traffic officers, road safety Corps, drivers, motor bike riders and key stakeholders on road safety and traffic management.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Old Police Barracks hall in Bo, the Regional Police Commander South, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia who served as a chairman of the meeting welcomed all and sundry and considered it as timely. 

Regional Police Commander South opined that he has observed with dismayed the lawlessness among commercial motor bike riders, drivers and Keke riders within the city of Bo ,which according to him ,is against his system of policing, which is twenty first century policing.

AIG Aiah Edward Samadia in his statement revealed that he is set to launch serious operations to crack down on lawlessness from all sectors within the Bo municipality and its environs.

The Director of traffic management, AIG Kapr Saidu Kamara while explaining the purpose of the meeting, he said his leadership wants to look into the relationship between the traffic sectors and the commercial road users/transport.

He said several meetings have been held in Freetown and this time, he decided to come down to Bo to hear the concerns of members of the transport and the public in order to look into their concerns in order to be addressed.

AIG Kamara highlighted some of the root causes of road accidents ranging from overloading, reckless driving over speeding amongst many others.

A representative from Drivers Union, Bobson Massaquoi, said they are ready to support the police to eradicate lawlessness and pleaded with them for partnership in order to have a cordial working relationship.

The Chairman of Bike Riders Union in Bo District, Augustine Samai commended the move taken by AIG Kamara to come and know the situation on the ground to ensure that there is adherence to road safety and management.

Other members of the transport stakeholders who attended the meeting lavished praises on the Director of Traffic Management and Road Safety for coming to engage them on traffic management which according them will help to build a good relationship amongst the police, road safety corps, bike riders and drivers including Keke riders and public.
