Saliu Condeh a police officer attached at the Police Headquarters in Freetown as a guard has narrated how he arrested a thief who break into his neighbor resident.
Led in her examination in chief by Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura, he recognized complainants as his neighbor and both accused persons in the dock.
He said on Tuesday 20th Jun 2023, he was at home when complainant Alie Hasting Spain reported to him that she has been robbed and upon receiving the information he went to the scene and noticed double blocks which according to him the thieves used to penetrate into the house.
The police witness said he went round the fence and informed those he met outside that thief have robbed complainant and immediately two of the guys he spoke to gave him information about first accused and they decided to chase the route he used and was able to apprehend him at Hastings Junction with an empty bag.
He said the first accused was taken to Hastings police post and reported the matter. “In my presence, the police cautioned him about the stolen items and he made a confessional statement saying he was the one that does the breakage and further stated that he sold the items to the second accused.
The witness said they went to the second accused at Hastings Junction where they met the stabilizer and he was cautioned as to how he got it and he confessed it was sold to him by first accused for eighty Leones.
He said they later return to Hastings police post where he was asked to make statement concerning the issue.
The accused who were unrepresented said they don’t have any question for the witness. The matter was adjourned to the 16th of August for the next witness to be dock.
