Police Investigate ‘Tippa Driver’ Over Damage Clock Tower

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Bo West Police Division is currently investigating a tippa driver, Amandu   Wurie who hits and destroyed the entrance of the Bo Clock Tower after killing a 14-year-old girl in a gruesome road accident at the same spot.

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper, the Deputy Regional Media and Public Relations Officer in the Southern Region, Police Constable (PC) Alhaji Osman Mansaray, said that the tippa driver is in their custody for the offence of motor manslaughter and other traffic related offences.

He said that on the 4th of August 2022 they received a report of an accident involving the tippa driver that was in control of a tippa vehicle with the registration number ARO 195 loaded with sand that was at high speed went out of control and a hit a 14-year old Fatmata Lahai.

Police Constable Mansaray said that the vehicle also hits a bike rider, who was carrying two passengers who sustained serious injury and are now responding to treatment.

According to an eyewitness report, the vehicle was at a terrific speed and the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and the fourteen-year-old girl that he allegedly killed has been laid to rest.

The tippa driver is cooperating with the police in the investigation and also supported the family of the deceased to bury the girl. The tippa driver is reported talking to the families of the injured people and the decease to withdraw the matter from the police and amicably resolve it.
