Thirty-six years old Henry Sesay a driver made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Escape from lawful police custody contrary to section 23 cap 179 of the Laws of Sierra Leone and Malicious Damage contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of the offence on Western 5th July 2023 at the Aberdeen police station, the Western area in Freetown being a suspect in police custody did escape from Lawful custody on count two on the same date and placed maliciously damaged one celling cilotext in the Toliet at Aberdeen police station valued two hundred Leones (Le 200) property of the Sierra Leone Police force.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty to each count charge.
The prosecutor Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun told the bench that fact as charge there are no available records against the accused person.
The accused person was unrepresented and he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra due to the plea mitigation by the accused person sentenced the accused person to six months imprisonment at the male correctional center in Freetown.
