Police at the Bo West Division have arrested a mask devil called paddle including at least Nine people who are believed to be the organizers of the said paddle.
According to the police deputy media officer of the Sierra Leone police southern Region police constable Alhaji Osman Mansaray, said prior to the arrest of the mask devil and nine other people, those in charge of the display of the said mask devil wrote to the police for clearance in order to display the mask devil on Monday 11th July 2022, which according to them is a yearly event. The police deputy media officer of the Sierra Leone Police southern region noted that upon reading the letter of request for police clearance, the Police commissioner southern Region Hillary Sao Kanu and other senior police officers advised the organizers of the paddle to call off the display of the mask devil because there is a national ban on the display of mask devils and secret societies since 2018 for which it was forbidden to permit them to carry out the display of the mask devil called paddle.
Police constable Alhaji Osman Manasaray further maintained that the organizers of the said paddle was cautioned but they went ahead and informed the people of Bo on a radio discussion that there was going to be a display of the said mask devil.
According to the police, it was against that back drop the police in the early hours of Monday 11th July, 2022 bumped into the organizers including the mask devil around CKC area and effected the said arrest.
Meanwhile, the mask devil including nine other people is in police custody helping them in their investigations.
Some residents of Bo City who saw the arrest of the nine people especially the mask devil have commended the Sierra Leone Police for not only being a force for good but also a force with spiritual powers for arresting a mask devil.
