The Ministry of social welfare has supported persons living with disability (PLWD) with food and non-food items in Bo.
Michael James the Deputy Director of the aforementioned Ministry in Bo District, said the food support to persons living with disability comes about when they received grant from the Government of Sierra Leone through the Councils in Bo District, as the ministry of social.
It is a devolved sector. The donated food and nonfood items were 25kg or half bag of rice, 1 one gallon cooking oil, and a physical cash of fifty New Leones as transportation fare each.
The food and non-food items support targeted twenty visually impaired and the other twenty beneficiaries were from the other set of disabilities.
The deputy Director of the Ministry of social Welfare further underscored the gesture as every man is a potential candidate for disability and that disability is not inability, he also admonished the people present to take care of their people, who are living with disability as they are very much important.
He concluded by saying if you know, you cannot afford to give them don’t discriminate them, as the country one time had a visually impaired Deputy Minister.
The beneficiaries, thanked God almighty for directing present Maada Bio to treat them with food and non-food items at this trying times, they further said that the SLPP Government always thinks about them as they further promised to revert the gesture come 2023 general elections.
