Victoria Finney made her first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three court charges to wit causing grievous bodily harm with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence that on Tuesday 19th October 2021 at No.48 Victoria Street the western area in Freetown causing grievous bodily harm, maliciously wounded and Assaulted Alusine Kanu.
The prosecution called two witnesses including the victim Alusine Kanu a dispenser the witness said he recognized the accused person as his fiancée, and recalled on the 19th October 2021. He said went to the environment where the accused person live to treat someone and took the ‘drip’ out of his bag to administer. The witness said he was about to connect it when the accused person arrived requesting for Lunch for his daughter. The witness said he told her he do not have much, but took out five thousand Leones from his pocket and gave it to the accused person.
Later, the accused person came demanding for his missing face mask, but the witness said she was not in possession of it, immediately the accused person went inside his house took the flask and turned the hot water on the witness. The accused person repeated the action the second time and fled the scene when he heard approaching footsteps.
The neighbors took photos of him and went to the Adelaide Street police station where he was issued police medical form and statements was obtained from him and his witness.
Magistrate Peter Gogra giving his ruling said the prosecution has adduced sufficient evidence in the warrant a committal of the matter to the high court the accused person was not granted bail and was sent to the Female correctional in Freetown.
Inspector Mabel M. Tarawallie prosecuted the matter during the preliminary level.
