Phone Fraud:  Student Sentenced 1yr6 Months Jail

22yrs-old Kamanda Conteh a Student of  Government Rokel senior secondary school made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on one count charge to wit Obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on Thursday 16th June 2022 about 08:00 hours at up Compound tour the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud obtained the sum of four million Leones (4,000,000) old Leones equivalent to four thousand Leones (4,000) new Leones From Isha Musa Kamara by falsely pretending that you have one iPhone Promax mobile phone for sale knowing same to be false.

The charge was read and explained to the accused person and pleaded guilty to the offence.

The prosecution told the bench that fact as charged that there are no available records for the accused person. 

However, the accused person pleaded for mercy and he was sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment at the male correctional centre in Freetown. 

Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun prosecuted the matter.
