A 26-year-old petty trader, Mohamed Kamara, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2, Freetown, after pleading guilty to multiple offences.
The accused made his first appearance before the court on three counts including larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916; malicious Damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861; and throwing Missiles, contrary to Section 6 of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
According to the particulars of offence, on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at No. 50 Farah Lane, Mountain Aureol, Mountain Rural District, Freetown, the defendant stole the sum of Five Hundred Leones (Le 500), the property of Adama Kandeh.
On count two, it was further alleged that on the same date and at the same place, the defendant maliciously damaged a zinc roof valued at One Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty Leones (Le 1,130), also the property of Adama Kandeh.
On count three, the prosecution stated that on the same date and place, the defendant was found throwing missiles, to wit: stones, at the residence of Adama Kandeh.
When the charges were read and explained to him, Mohamed Kamara pleaded guilty to all three counts.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sorie Conteh, informed the court that the facts were as charged and that the defendant had no previous criminal record. He tendered the defendant’s voluntary cautioned statement and charged statement, which were admitted as part of the court records.
The defendant was not legally represented and personally pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
Taking into consideration the defendant’s guilty plea, the fact that he was a first-time offender, and that he did not waste the court’s time, Magistrate Fornah sentenced him to six (6) months’ imprisonment, comprising two months on each count, to be served consecutively and in full.
