The Minister of Local governments, Minister of Internal Affairs, Resident Minister Southern Province and other senior government officials have on the 30th June 2022 met with district stakeholders and Lowa Banta chiefdom authorities on recommendations that the Council administration should investigate the crisis that took place at Moyamba district council Hall four years ago.
The resident Minister for Southern Province, Mohammed Alieu in his statement revealed that for the past four years, the said Paramount chief has been out of his chiefdom due to a dispute between him and his people, which led to the burning of his house and other properties worth millions of Leones.
He adds that the government has made all findings in respect of the dispute and their findings will be disclosed to the Paramount chief, Chiefdom council and district stakeholders for them to give their recommendations.
Minister Allieu further assured authorities present that after six weeks the government will return the Paramount chief to his people.
While that Minister of Internal Affairs, David Panda-Noah appealed to the people of Lowa Banta Chiefdom to accept whatever decision that will come from that government. He said the decision will help promote peace and development for youths in the chiefdom and warned all to obey the law and government.
Whereas, the Minister of Local Government, Tamba Lamina in his keynote address said the ministry under the leadership of President Bio has resolved five disputes among Paramount Chiefs and their people.
He further reassured authorities that after six weeks the Paramount chief will return to his chiefdom to work for his people, and appeal to all residents to work hand in glove with their Paramount chief adding that they should forget about the past and focus on the future.
PC Russel Nyama II of Lowa Banta Chiefdom thank the government for a fair investigation between him and his people, he called on the residents of his chiefdom to forgive him in whatever way he has wronged them and promise to work with them in the best way possible.
He disclosed that he has nothing negative in mind for his people, and assured them that he will work hard to promote development in the Chiefdom.
