The Minister of Local Government and rural Development Tamba Lamina has on Saturday the 20th of March 2022, officially crowned the newly elected Paramount Chief of Kpanga Chiefdom, Pujehun District PC Ibrahim Andrew Jaiah Kaikai.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Tamba Lamina, also made a clarion call on all the chieftaincy families to join the democratically elected PC for the development of Pujehun.
He categorically intimated the People of Kpanga Chiefdom that the occasion served as a symbolic signing of a life time contract between PC Kaikai and the people of Kpanga Chiefdom. He added that the contract is for the PC to love his people, care for his people, embrace the people of Kpanga, and to work with everybody for the development of the Chiefdom.
Minister Lamina continued that elections of Paramount chieftaincy are always a blood fight because it is a fight within family. He acknowledged that there must be aggrieved parties especially after the election within the family. The Local Government Minister therefore, used the opportunity to preach peace and unity among those who contested the elections. He further reminded all and sundry that Kpanga Chiefdom has got a Paramount chief who deserves the maximum respect.
Since his appointment as Local Government Minister, Tamba Lamina reveals that he has crowned over thirty Paramount Chiefs across the country. He added that all of those elections were conducted by his Ministry in a very free, fair and in a transparent manner.
“We are here today to officially handover the Paramount Chief to the People of Kpanga Chiefdom and to the People of Pujehun District at large. We are all witnessing the ceremonial and traditional contract of PC Andrew Jaiah Kaikia. This is the contract the PC has taken to dignify his people, respect his people, and a contract to work with the local council of Pujehun which is geared towards development of the chiefdom”, said Tamba Lamina.
The Local Government Minister noted that there is indeed conflict within the paramount chieftaincies across the country. He therefore, assured that his Ministry will try very hard to resolve the ill happenings within paramount chieftaincies. He also added that his Ministry will institute a strong council of paramount chiefs in Pujehun District so that the chiefs will now work together. With the formation of the council of paramount chiefs, Tamba Lamina assured that there will be unity in diversity for the development of the Kpanga Chiefdom.
In his statement, the Chairman of the Pujehun District Descendant Association (PDDA) who also doubles as an Independent Member of Parliament Hon. Shiaka Musa Sama, expressed gratitude for being present at the occasion.
He added that the entire people of Pujehun were gathered for the occasion due to the fact that, the Paramount Chief is somebody everyone like. He also used the opportunity to officially congratulate PC Andrew Ibrahim Jaiah Kaikai on behalf of PDDA.
In his inaugural statement, the newly elected Paramount Chief PC Ibrahim Andrew Jaiah Kaikai extended profound thanks to the Minister of Local Government and other dignitaries present. He also used the opportunity to appeal to all Members of Parliament to discountenance the Land Bill in Parliament. PC Jaiah Kaikai also sent a strong worded warning to Members of Parliament that the people will run after any Member of Parliament who supports the enactment of the Land Bill. He assured the people of Kpanga Chiefdom that he will work with them. PC Jaiah Kaikai concluded by encouraging all the ruling houses especially those who contested with him, to work together so that Kpanga Chiefdom will be developed.
