Tenth Prosecution Witness Dr Simeon Owizz Koroma who lives at Sierratel Drive R1 Hill Station Freetown a Medical Examiner specializing in forensic pathology and general pathology and attached at the Ministry of Internal Affairs as the Chief Medical Examiner to the Republic of Sierra Leone testified before Justice Sulaiman Bah of the High Court No.1 in Freetown.
He said he reduced his findings of the autopsy conducted on the body of the deceased Mamoud Mansaray into a postmortem report for court records. He said he signed and dated the result and that the deceased body was identified by Mr. Issa Mansaray elder brother to the deceased, the Investigating Officer (IO), Detective Inspector Mohamed Kargbo attached at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Freetown, the Scene of Crime Officer (SOKO) and detective constable DPC Bangura H also attached at the CID headquarters.
He continued that he issued the medical certificate of the cause of death and submitted the original copy to relatives of the deceased and a copy to the Investigating officer for onward transmission to the judiciary.
The autopsy result was produced and tendered marked as Exhibit L1-5 and no objection was made by defence counsel.
The Autopsy report of the deceased was read in court by the Prosecuting witness Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma.
He said the deceased was a Military Personnel aged 29 years who lived at the Wilberforce Village and that the incident occurred on the 30th March 2020.
He went on to that the deceased was allegedly stabbed to death with a sharp object (Knife) and that the head of the deceased was normal, the body in front of the deceased showed a 4cm stabbed wound underneath the chest wall on the left upper part of the heart and also due to profuse or acute hemorrhagic shock and bleeding.
Dr Simeon Owizz Koroma said the deceased cause of death was homicidal.
He also said that the deceased lost 8 litres of blood.
The matter has been adjourned for further hearing and cross-examination by defence counsel IP Mammie Esq.
