A motorcycle rider by the name of Alhassan in Marila village who normally plies between Guinea and Sierra Leone on weekly market meetings in Gbendi has been shot dead by unknown passengers.

Alhassan was hired by two different young men to convey them to Gbendi.

After agreeing on a fee for the said journey, they embarked on the trip and immediately after crossing a popular check point in the Guinea side of the border called khama a fight reportedly ensued between the rider and two passengers.

Apparently, the unknown passengers had wanted to steal the bike from the deceased rider, but being a strong and energetic young man, he put up a serious fight in resisting their ill-intensions.

As the fight intensified between the bike rider and the assailants, they decided to shot him on the head, where he bled to death.

After shooting the bike rider to death, there were two old women coming from their farms going home, but on their way home they heard a gunshot and when they got closer to the murderers they decided to ask them that we “heard a gunshot” and they replied YES

“we shot a monkey and we couldn’t find it at the moment”.

The attackers later took the bike and left for Gbindi.

Later the two old women heard a sudden cry of deep pain in the Forest so they decided to find out the alleged monkey the attackers claimed.

They eventually discovered it was Alhassan the bike rider struggling to death. The two old women then started yelling to call public attention to the murderous incident.

The matter has been reported to the police officers at the police post within the border area of Sierra Leone.

It should be noted that motorbike theft and vehicle jerking are common crimes that are committed along the border area.
