PARLIAMENTARY FEMALE CAUCUS MEETS WITH FEMALE POLICE PERSONNEL IN BO CITY

On the 30th October 2021, a cross section of the Sierra Leone Parliamentary Female caucus met with female Police personnel in Bo.

The team was received by the Regional Police Commander South, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia and welcomed them to Bo. He assured them of their maximum security throughout in the Region.

The President of Sierra Leone female Parliamentary Caucus, Honorable Veronica Kadie Sesay informed personnel about the United Nations Resolution which advocates for female empowerment in peace, security and good governance. She further emphasized on the need for the 30% inclusion of women in leadership positions and other strategic areas in the Police. She cited Countries they have visited such as Rwanda and Kenya as an example for more female representation in leadership positions.

She pleaded with AIG Aiah Edward Samadia to share their concerns with the IGP Sovula for an increase percentage of women in the area of recruitment, promotion, training and leadership positions in the rank and file of the SLP.

Honorable Rose Marie Bangura thanked AIG and the female Police participants for what she described “a wonderful reception and good engagement”.

She concluded by saying “we will be traveling to Gondama Military Barracks to engage female military officers in a bid to cascade the same messages.

All comments and concerns raised by female Police personnel were noted for necessary actions, she added.

AIG applauded the female Parliamentary caucus for the initiatives and informed the delegation that the SLP consider female empowerment and capacity building as a core in the SLP’s Strategic Development Plan with reference to his Deputy Regional Police Commander South CSP Mabel Fallah. 

AIG Samadia concluded by assuring the delegation that the SLP will continue to respect and place women in strategic leadership positions.
