Aspirant for the Parliamentary seat of Constituency 042 in Falaba district, has vehemently condemned the violence that took place on August 14 referring to it as an embarrassment to the nation.
Alhaji Abdulai Turay is calling on the youths of Sierra Leone to cool off and reflect on the things that can help the country develop rather than using their energy on violence which he said has no place in society despite the political party in power.
Speaking to this medium during an exclusive interview, Turay used the opportunity to advise the youths across the country to exercise patience and wait until election to vote out the current régime. He admonished them to turn up for registration when the time comes (3rd September to 4th October) for them to be in the position to exercise their franchise as provided for by law. ” It is constitutional to hold protest but should be done within the framework of the law”, the final year IPAM student lectured, adding that the country desires peace not acts of violence at this point in time when people are facing serious economic challenges. “My advise to you guys, disengage from all forms of violence”, he further admonished.
As an Aspirant in the forthcoming election under the opposition All People Congress party, Turay has assured that he will change the political
dynamics if given the opportunity to represent his people, whom he said lack community banks and will help them have financial security as well as accessible pipe – borne water in the impoverished Constituency which largely depends on stream water to drink. He said with his background, he had been taught from childhood not to make fake promises, ‘I am going to do more than talking more and set the pace for successive MPs to copy from”, he bluffed, noting that he would continue to work in the interest of the constituents and his party
Residents of Constituency 042, which was formerly 045, have expressed satisfaction over his intervention especially in the area of promoting the free quality education enrolled by the seating SLPP government of President Julius Maada Bio, wherein he had used his resources to provide learning and teaching materials for various schools in the district.
