A team from the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (Paris21) led by Stacey Bradbury is holding a three-day workshop from 11 – 13 July 2023 on “effective promotion and communication of statistics, particularly agricultural data.
The training is designed to help the media better understand and make more effective use of data in their reporting while at the same time aiding statisticians and officials in improving how they communicate statistics to journalists and other audiences among the wider public.
The event is the result of a partnership between Stats SL, the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (Paris 21), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The workshop aims to build confidence among participants in working with data and to encourage collaboration between Ministry of Agriculture officials, The National Statistics Office (NSO), Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) representatives and journalists.
Key areas of the training which serve as dimensions for quality data reporting include: Relevance; Accuracy; Timeliness and Punctuality; Accessibility; Interpretability; Coherence and Credibility.
