The Senior Social Services Officer, Ministry of Gender and Children Affairs who also doubles as the one stop center manager in Pujehun district Florence Sandi has said that parents especially mothers are responsible for the high spate of sexual penetration in Pujehun District.
She made the statement when giving update on the activities of the one stop center that was established sometimes in July, 2020 in Pujehun district. Mrs. Sandi maintained that, failure of parents especially mothers to monitor their girl child cannot be underestimated for the high number of sexual penetration cases recorded in the district for the past one year. Poverty, lack of some basic amenities are some of the secondary reasons responsible for sexual penetration cases in the district she stressed.
Giving the statistics of sexual penetration cases in Pujehun District, Florence Sandi stated that, from July, to December, 2020, they recorded seventy (70) cases and from January to August, 2021, they have so far recorded eighty-five (85) cases of sexual penetration in the district which has made the figure one hundred and fifty –five (155) for the past one year.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Sandi has congratulated authorities and some family members for joining hands with the government of Sierra Leone to put an end to sexual penetration by prosecuting perpetrators of the said menace.
