Ahead of the Commonwealth Games qualifiers the Sierra Leone Paralympic Committee has on 2nd March 2022 moved their training camp to the Eastern Province of Kenema due to the closure of the National Stadium to get better training ahead of the qualifiers.

According to the President of the Paralympic Committee, Unisia Deen Kargbo said the move is a result of the unavailable venue for training of the athletes so that they will focus and mentally prepared them for the qualifiers and to compete for the games that will be held in Birmingham, England.

The two athletes, Sorie Kargbo and Rugiatu Kamara departed Freetown yesterday and have arrived in Kenema City where they will train effectively in their preparation for the Birmingham Games.

Sorie Kargbo is among the athletes that represented Sierra Leone in the Paralympic athletics where he was ranked as the best in Africa; with such accolade he hopes to continue with that record as he braces up for the Commonwealth Games.

The association calls on the government and corporate bodies to render their financially as huge resources is needed whilst preparing for such international game.
