Chairman of the Western Rural District Council (WARDC) Kashow J Holland-Cole has referred to the letter addressed to Mayors and Council Chairmen that they should vacate their offices in preparation for election as illegal, disrespectful and frustrating.
Kashow said he needs some time and he would not vacate his office even if bulldozed until May 25th when Council is expected to hold its last meeting.
” Let them come and beat me up before my people, I will not leave as directed by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development”, Kashow blasted, noting that Section 1-37 of the Local Government Act spells out when he is supposed to vacate his seat. He said by law he is to vacate his seat on the day of the last Council seating pointing out that it was on 25 May 2018 they had their first Council seating just after the election.
He pointed out that April 25 when Parliament closes can be another lawful time for him to vacate being that the House will close.
Chairman Kashow who doubles as the newly elected Western Rural District Chairperson for the All People’s Congress party (APC) claims that all the development projects implemented in his district over these five years were driven by the Council through its revenue generation drive, noting that the Central Government has not funded a single project in the rural District.
Sources within Council have intimated to us that Chairman Kashow has been parking his personal belongings out of the office being jittery that he will be removed by Chief Administrator to take over the administration of the Council until after the election when a Chairman emerges to lead the Council.
Kashow, it could be recalled that head bent on criticizing former Chairman Alhassan Cole’s administration as a media practitioner operating Lion Mountain Radio in Waterloo. His administration started a robust local tax collection drive but got stuck on the way respective to the huge compliance at that time.
