Magistrate Mark Ngegba has granted one hundred million Leone bail to eight travelling fraudsters at the male and female correctional centers respectively.
The accused persons Salamatu Koroma, Sorie Kabbah, Sheka Mansaray, Aruna Kargbo, Foday Koroma, Mohamed Bangura, Ibrahim Kelvin Mansaray and Saidu Dao appeared before Magistrate of Pademba road court no. 1 in Freetown to answer to 11 counts charges of Conspiracy to commit Fraud, and ten counts ranging from Obtaining money by false pretences.
All accused persons were present and the charges were read and explained to them and all accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused persons on dates unknown between the 1st May 2022 and the 31st June 2022 at No.124 City Road off Haja-Fatmata Wellington the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Obtaining money by false pretences on count two the accused person Causing Money to be paid by Sinnah Aminata Kamara the sum of Seventy thousand Leones to facilitate fee to send her to Canada knowing same to be false and on the same date obtained different amount of money to wit Seventy Million Leones from Aruna Quesi to facilitate his travelling to Australia knowing same to be false.
The first prosecution witness Sinnah Aminata Kamara (PW1) was led in evidence by Christiana Davis Cole Esq, while the cross-examination was conducted by Emmanuel Teddy Koroma Esq.
After the cross-examination, Magistrate Ngegba granted the accused person bail for one hundred million Leones sureties to be employed sureties to be resident within this jurisdiction; bail to be approved by the Master and registrar and the matter was adjourned to the 3rd October 2022.
