The Station Manager of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) in Bo, Engineer Bernadette Kargbo has disclosed that they will be going on a robust disconnection of their customers that have not paid their water bills.
According to her, they need money to enable them run their water facility but is disappointing to note that their customers are in huge debt and they need to pay their water bills to enable them function properly.
“If you know that you have to pay us, please come now and do it to avoid embarrassment as any moment from now we will embarking on disconnection,” she called out.
Ing. Kargbo said that they will be opening the newly constructed reservoirs in Bo located at Candeh mountain and the back of Government Reservation. She said that they have to test the reservoir and the running pipes to ensure that they do not have impurities as they want to deliver quality service to the people.
The reservoirs, he noted were established due to demand of the people to get more water supply in their houses and communities, adding that the new reservoirs will make the other communities have access to water from their facilities.
Ing Kargbo maintained that after the testing of the reservoirs they will now embark on the massive disconnection.
Some of the SALWACO customers in Bo said that what is responsible for most of them not pay their bills is because of SALWACO do not provide them the service that they are paying for.
Brima Jusu said that it is their right to have safe drinking water and it is the duty of the government to provide them water and the corresponding responsibility is to pay for the water being provided but when there is irregular supply of water they are being discouraged to do pay their bills.
“Let SALWACO give us the service and we pay for it,” Brima said.
