25yrs old Maada Kamara a Laborer made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on four court charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law, Wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence on Monday 11th July 2022 at Sankey Street Brookfield’s the western area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit wounding with intent on count two, three and four the accused person maliciously wounded and assaulted Mohamed Kamara in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and plea taken.

C.A Thomas Esq representing the accused person applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that the accused person is a Sierra Leonean resident that has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognizance on his behalf; he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses he will not jumped bail; he made his application pursuant to section 79 (2) and 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.

However, Magistrate Gogra granted the accused person bail in the sum of twenty million Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident in the western area; sureties to produce valid identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown one surety to be gainfully employed, and bail to be approved by the Bench.

Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun prosecuting and the matter was adjourned to the 17th August 2022 for further hearing.
