Police Prosecution witness (PW)2, Mohamed A. Daramy has testified in the ongoing matter involving Mohamed Bangura charged with conspiracy , housebreaking and larceny, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

In continuation of his testimony, Daramy told the bench that he recognized the accused and could recall on Wednesday, 29 June 2022.

The witness said on that day, he was in Syria, when he received a phone call from PW 1, who doubled as his wife, Frances Daramy, informing him about the said incident.

 The witness continued that on the same, he advised his wife to report the matter to nearness police station, which she did.

He said when he returned to Freetown, he discovered that all of his properties including plasma TV, iPhone, his trousers, T- shirts and other assorted items have been carted away which valued at one hundred and forty Leones, and formerly 142,000,000 have been stolen.

The witness said he made a statement to the police.

During cross examination by defense counsel, Lawyer Koroma put it to him that his wife informed him that she was not at the premises when the alleged incident occurred, which he responded in the affirmative.

Defense counsel renewed his application for bail on behalf of the accused by relying on section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965.

He furthered that the evidence adduced to the court is not directly pointed at the accused.

Responding, Magistrate Ngegba granted the accused Forty thousand Leones (Le40,000) bail with two sureties.

The sureties must show a proof of residence, adding each of the sureties should be above forty years old and bail should be approved by Master and Registrar.

The accused appeared before the court on a count of conspiracy and two counts of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

It was alleged that Mohamed Bangura, on Wednesday, 29 June 2022 in Funkia Goderich in Freetown, conspired with unknown persons to commit, a crime to wit, housebreaking and larceny.

The charge sheet further that the accused, on the same date and address in Freetown broke into Frances Daramy’s house and stole her wedding ring, a plasma TV, T- shirts, wristwatch, iPhone and assorted items valued at ten thousand and forty- two Leones (Le10,042.00).

 The matter was adjourned to the 26th July 2022.
