Over alleged Le 300m theft at Queen Elizabeth Quay II: 31yrs-old Woman Imprisoned

31yrs old Ramatulai Barrie made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on five Count charges ranging from Fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on diverse dates between Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 30th September 2020 at Queen Elizabeth Quay Cline Town the western area in Freetown Fraudulently converted to her own use and benefit certain property that is to say different assorted items valued three hundred and thirty eighty million two hundred thousand Leones (3,382,000,000) entrusted to her by Esther Kanu for the purpose of safe keeping.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea was taken.  

The Prosecution seeks for a short adjournment date.

L Bangura representing the accused person didn’t object towards that adjournment date applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that she is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that she will make herself available to the court on every adjournment date she is not a flight risk nor will she interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses she has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognizance on her behalf He made his application pursuant to section 79 (2) of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965

Responding to the application made by defense counsel E.L Bangura prosecution show counsel a warrant of arrest that the accused person was brought on warrant.  

However, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and send the accused person to the Female correctional center special court in Freetown. Matter adjourned to the 24th January 2022.
