Over Alleged Le 1B Theft: Accountant Of Directaid SL Ltd In Jail

Abubakarr Adams Sillah an accountant employed by DirectAid SL Ltd was on Thursday 14th December 2023 sent to prison by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No1 for allegedly stealing from the company account at Vista Bank over one billion leones.

The accused made his first appearance and was arraigned on 63 counts charges of Larceny by servant contrary to section 17 (1(a) of the larceny Act 191.

According to the indictments, the accused on diverse dates between January 2022 to October 2022, at Vista Bank Light Foot Boston Street Freetown being an accountant employed by DirectAid Sierra Leone Limited stole the total sum of over one Billion Leones from Direct Aid account number 066011383690202 held at Vista Bank Sierra Leone Limited for Aid services property of Direct Aid Sierra Leone Limited.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Magistrate Ngegba however refused bail and remanded the accused in prison whiles the matter was adjourned to the 21st December 2023 for further hearing.

Assistant Superintendent of police Ibrahim S Mansaray is prosecuting the matter.
