The Inspector of Schools in charge of Basic and Senior Secondary school Examination in Bo district has said thirteen Thousand two hundred and Seventy three pupils are writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Bo District. The BECE started on Monday, 12 June 2021.
Speaking to this medium, Mr. Raham B. Kemoh said that 32 centers have been established in 119 schools for the BECE exams in Bo District, noting that the creation of more examination centers is to make sure that the candidates have easy access to examination centres.
According to him, they have put a stop to school camping and a thorough supervision of the BECE Exam is ongoing to ensure that there is no examination malpractice.
Civil society activists in Bo district said that they are going to monitor the exams to ensure that the right thing is done at the centers, adding that they are doing it to complement the effort of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary school examination, West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Some of the parents told this medium that WAEC should ensure that they do not delay in the marking of the script of BECE exams as they have to prepare for their children.
“We do not want to be taken unawares as some of us are low income earners. We have to go the extra mile to prepare for the new class of our children, ’Janet Jusu said.
She added that she wants to thank the action of educational authorities in Bo district for negating school camping which has the potential of making our children sexually abused.’’
It could be recalled; educational stakeholders including the Bo District and City Council frowned upon school camping and examination malpractice at a meeting with heads of schools in Bo District.
