Thirteen-year-old pupil Juliana Kamara, thirty-one-year-old businesswoman Mabinty Kamara, and trader Ramatu Kamara have been remanded to the female and juvenile correctional facility in Freetown. This followed charges brought before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 for two counts: Conspiracy to Commit a Crime (Larceny from a Dwelling House) contrary to the law, and Larceny from a Dwelling House under Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, sometime between August and October 2024, at 1 Thompson Drive, Congo Cross, Western Area, Freetown, the accused conspired together with other unknown persons to commit larceny from a dwelling house.
Count two alleges that on the same date and location, the accused unlawfully entered the residence of Dr. Melvina Thompson and stole a sum of ten thousand six hundred United States dollars (\$10,600), equivalent to two hundred forty thousand and seventeen Leones (240,017 Leones), belonging to Dr. Thompson.
Upon reading and explaining the charges to the accused persons, no plea was taken.
The accused were represented by Mohamed Yassin Conteh Esq.
Magistrate Jah denied bail and ordered that the accused persons be remanded to the female correctional facility in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to 23rd July 2025 for further proceedings.
