The President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio has disclosed that the achievements the Country have made in less than four years have shown that as a nation we have great Sporting talents be nature, he made pronounce during the official launching of the National Sports Development at the Bintumani Conference Hall at Aberdeen in Freetown.
The President said we the level of rapid improvement made so there are more international Sporting talents waiting to blossom. He added that despite financial constraints his Government has increased allocations to sports, and have expanded the investment base, refurbished facilities, and re-introduced sport into Schools, Women and disabled persons are participating at the highest levels and the government has established the necessary baseline for developing the sports industry in this Country.
He further that the government has made a specific commitment in the manifesto and also in the midterm National development plan and that is deliberate is because the government believed then and still believes that Sports is a great enabler of sustainable national development. Sports create jobs and support entrepreneurship it supports gender equality and inclusion for people with disabilities.
President Bio said our Sports Women have made the nation proud in recent International competitions; Sports and Youth participation especially promote physical and mental well-being at the personal and community levels. He said the was seen in the night the Country triumph as we qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations and after, it unites our Country. It is a great source of National unity and National pride, when the national team is going to Yaoundé Cameroon in January 2022 Sierra Leoneans is going there united to support our great Leone Stars.
President Julius Maada Bio said Sport has the power to unite people in a way that little else does Sports can awaken hope where there was previously only despair, and it speaks to people in a language they can understand. He said that as the government reorganized sports in this country and has made the necessary legal, Policy, and institutional changes to transform sports in this country.
