ORTHODOX FC IN FOURAHBAY COMMUNITY CROWNED CHAMPIONS IN ORANGE JUNIOR COMPETITION

Orthodox Football club Located in the Fourah Bay Community has on the 11th December 2021 crowned as champion of the Orange U-13 Challenge trophy at the SS Camp playing field.

The Missionary boy’s Orthodox football club represented the Fourah bay community in the Orange Junior Competition, the competition started with eight communities as it was a knock-out competition.

Fourah bay Community (Orthodox FC ) played their opener against Fant Fc that represented Hill Station and won by four goals to two.

The second match was a clash of the titans against Hopanda Fc from Wellington as the 60th minute was unable to separate both sides.

Orthodox Fc (Fourahbay) won on penalties by four goals to two as that automatically takes them to the grand finale.

One of the competition’s favorites Legend Fc that represented Wilberforce was seen to be the only team to stop Orthodox from not winning the competition.

The final started with a Pacey moment from both sides despite Orthodox Fc using an infield player as a goalkeeper in the grand finale against Legend Fc from Wilberforce.

Orthodox Fc only registered one goalkeeper but was red-carded in the Semi-final prompting him to miss the grand finale.

The first half ended goalless after the defensive line of both teams were very vigilant and stubborn depriving the strikers not to score.

After the recess, new signing Augustine Morris scored his fifth goal in the competition that sent his side one-nil up. The beautiful strike left the Legend Fc goalkeeper with no option but to find the ball at the back of the net.

 Another new signing Hajibu Mansaray of the Orthodox football club won the Man of the Match award for his extraordinary performance. 

The Trophy won was a remarkable day for the Team as this is the second title being won within two months.

The first trophy was won by the U -15 category in the just concluded WAFA U-15 campaign.

The young lads have just brought another glory to the Team by playing two competitions and becoming the champions of all.

The boys are well ready to watch the AFCON 2022 in Cameroon as that’s the golden prize for the Team that is going to win the competition.

 The Orthodox football club is the champions and the lads are well ready for such an opportunity.

Head Coach Alie Sesay expresses himself to be happy because he promised the management of winning the competition and he has won yet another trophy and hopes to win more trophies.

The head coach of Wilberforce Community (Legend Football club) started by telling thanks to the organizers Orange Mobile Company for the opportunity given to the young boys to show their talent.

 “They were not to lose the final but that is football they will go back and continue their usual preparation for more tournaments”, he said.

According to the Alhaji Kaideh Kamara, the Imatt elder and Youth Chief thanked Orange Mobile Company for organizing such a Community tournament as host even though they were unable to reach the finals they are ready to host it again if the chance is there maybe they will win the next edition.

Abdoulaye Dia the Marketing Director of Orange Mobile Company started by telling thanks to all the participating teams in the Orange U-13 Challenge Trophy, he noted that there may be again another mini-tournament in Cameroon, and the team that has won needs to brace and prepare because the Company is one of the Officials sponsored of the Africa Cup of Nations and is operating in (17) Counties and a similar of such is also going in those Countries.

Mohamed Jawad Nyallay, the Coordinator said it has been an exciting and fantastic football tournament where they bring in (8) Communities to participate in the Orange Football tournament in it they were able to spot out the best player, the best striker,  and brilliant goals were scored and good defensive works from all participating teams.

“These have shown that the future of the Country`s football is bright and that the tournament is organized by Orange Mobile Company as part of na we dare play the end of year campaign  that is driving every Sierra Leonean as part of Sierra Leone Participation in the AFCON for the first time after 25 years,” he said.

He added that the winner Fourah Bay Community will be flown to Cameroon with (12) players and two Officials to Watch the AFCON and the possibility that they will be part of a mini Tournament. After the finals, trophies, and medals were given to the two teams and a trophy to the winner.
