The Deputy Director of Basic and Secondary School Education Kono District Alimamy Kamara has told this medium that the ongoing 2021 Basic certificate Examination (BECE), is the worst ever since the introduction  of the examination in the country.

Mr. Kamara made the pronouncement when giving situational update on the first and second day of the exams in Kono District.

According to him, the exams are taken place at twenty two examination centres within the district.

Dilating on the apparent high spate of examination malpractices prevalent in Kono District and the country as a whole, the Deputy Director of Education Kono District Alimamy Kamara said, despite the several monitoring mechanisms, his office, partners with the Education Ministry and other education stakeholders to have put in place measures to curb the said menace.

It has been disclosed that a huge number of pupils have been caught in exams malpractices during the first and second days of the exams at almost the entire twenty two centres in the district.

Mr. Kamara described the situation as unfortunate and detrimental to the intent of the New Direction Government Free Quality Education Flagship Program and the future of the district and the nation in general.

Alimamy Kamara further expressed his total dismay over certain unscrupulous individuals who are bent on disseminating examination question papers via social media, whatsapp groups before the hard copies of the papers are available at the respective examination centres.

He therefore called on the central government through the line ministries departments and agencies to galvanize swift mechanisms to mitigate the aforesaid examination malpractices by taking robust steps to investigate the leakages or sources of the papers and bring those involved to book.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kamara said, candidates caught in the act of the examination malpractices in the ongoing BECE in Kono District have filled the malpractices forms and their result will be withheld.
