30 years old Ibrahim Barrie Alias” more na me” a driver made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.3 in Freetown on three count charges to wit Wounding with intent, Wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
According to the particulars of offence on Tuesday 10th October 2023 at old Signal Hill Road off Congo Cross the western area in Freetown wounded Sallieu Kamara with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and on the other counts on the above date and place the accused person assaulted the said complainant in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
Sergeant 8811 Florence Wilson led first Prosecution witness (PW1) Sallieu Kamara a Contractor said he recognized the accused person as his new neighbor and further recall on Tuesday 10th October 2023 his wife give birth.
PW1 said after three day he went to the stream to launder after that he took one of the lappas and spread it on the grass because of that the accused person started using abusive language on him, and continue that he took the ‘lappa’ from the ground.
He continues that he responded to the accused person’s abusive language used against him and suddenly the accused person slapped; he retaliated. Later the accused person run and grabbed a knife, according to witness, he said he run for because the accused person was treating him with the knife.
PW1 said on his way to police station to make statement he slip and fall down and the accused person grabbed him and stabbed him at the back of his neck which caused blood to oozed out profusely.
The witness said he went to Congo Cross police station and made report and he was issued a police medical request form and he went to hospital where he was given one stitches and was referred for X-ray. He said he later returned with the X-ray result and retuned the police medical request form to the police station; it was later produced for identification to form part of the court records.
The accused person was legally unrepresented.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown and matter was adjourned to the 31st October 2023 for further hearing.
