On Alleged Theft: Business Woman Refused Bail

Abibatu Tengbeh has on 5th April,2023 made her first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown as she was alleged of stealing $30,000 from Haja Fatmata Mamaniya Khader, complainant.

The accused stand trial on a count charge of larceny dwelling house contrary to section 17(1)(a) of the larceny act of 1916.

The charge sheet indicated that the accused on Wednesday 15th February 2023 at Cordelia drive Lumley being a house Maid employed by Win Today Recruitment Agency (WTRA) enter into the dwelling house of Haja Fatmata Mamaniya Khader and stole the sum of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) property of Haja Fatmata Mamaniya Khader.

After the charge were read to the accused person, she pleaded not guilty of the offense.

The prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray sought for an adjournment that the witness was absent in court.

The defense Counsel A. Turay made bail application on behalf of the accused that she will not jump bail neither interface with prosecution witness.

He said the accused has credible sureties to stand on her behalf.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused person to the female correctional centre in Freetown matter adjourned to the 11th April 2023 for further hearing.
