Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No 1 in Freetown on Friday 8th September, 2023 has committed the ongoing fraudulent conversion matter involving Alhassan Kamara, 24, to the High Court for trial
In his committal statement, Magistrate Kekura was brought before the court for fraudulently conversion contrary to section 20(1) (IV) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
He said it was alleged that the accused, Alhassan Kamara, on sometime December 2022 at Ashobi Corner, Black Hall Road in Freetown fradulently converted to his own use a red TVS motorbike with registration number AUB 314 valued at seventeen thousand two hundred Leones (NLe17,200) entrusted to him by the Complainant, Ibrahim Dumbuya.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken because it’s preliminary investigations.
The accused was unrepresented and that the prosecution led three witnesses, but the accused failed to cross examine the witnesses.
He said the evidence of PW1 and two collaborated.
Magistrate Kekura looking at the evidence before the court and it entirety, including the accused’s statement he made to the police, his confessional statement he committed the matter to High Court for trial bail.
The accused is still on bail.
When the accused was asked if he wished to give evidence in at the High Court, he responded in the affirmative.

Alhassan Kamara was arrested on 28th March ,2023 by Detective Inspector Sesay U and appeared before the court on a count of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20(1) (I V) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The police say the accused fraudulently converted the said TVS motorbike with same registration valued at NLe17, 200 belonging to Ibrahim Dumbuya.
Police Constable 14872 Agnes Dixon Cole prosecutes the matter.
