Dennis Pessima Bassie employed by Africell Mobile Company, as Office Assistant, stationed at the Headquarters at Wilberforce, Freetown, on the 3 August 2021, made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Court No. 6 Pademba road Freetown for duping six (6) people for land that belongs to the government of Sierra Leone.
The accused is charged on six (6) counts on two files of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916. According to count 1-6 on both files, the accused Dennis Pessima Bassie, sometimes in November and December, 2020, at Thompson Bay, off Wilkinson road, Freetown, with intent to defraud obtained the sum of eleven million five hundred thousand Leones from William Johnson, Moses Alie, Bockarie Taluva, Alhaji Munda and Husinatu Barrie, by falsely pretending that he have a wet land for sale and the particular land belong to the government of Sierra Leone which is known to be false.
The accused person was not represented and he was sent to the male correctional centre in Freetown matter. Inspector Mabel M.Tarawally is Prosecuting, and matter adjourned to the 10 August 2021.
