Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, the proposed Chairman for the National Sports Authority (NSA) of Sierra Leone, has reiterated his commitment to working closely with the Minister of Sports and serving the nation. His statement came on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Parliament building following his interview with the Committee on Appointments.

Nyelenkeh, who previously served as the Minister of Sports, experienced a seamless interview process with the parliamentary committee, owing to his extensive experience in various sports, including football, cricket, volleyball, and long Chinese. His local and international credentials in sports administration were key factors in the committee’s decision.

In an exclusive interview with the press, Nyelenkeh described his reappointment as a recognition of his contributions to the sports sector. “The President’s trust in my hard work has led to this transfer, allowing me to help uplift and transform other critical aspects of our national sports authority. Without proper nurturing of the authority, there is a risk of the entire sports association collapsing,” Nyelenkeh stated.

Nyelenkeh highlighted his plans to further advance sports activities in the country. He emphasized his expertise and recounted past successes, including the revitalization of non-functional sports associations and the hosting of seven international matches.

Promising significant achievements in Sierra Leone’s national sports, Nyelenkeh assured the public of his dedication to leveraging both his experience and that of the NSA Executive Chairman. He emphasized his intention to collaborate effectively with the Minister of Sports and other stakeholders to ensure the continued success and development of the sector.
