Sylvester Musa, also known as Sylvester Amara, a 40-year-old nurse, made his first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 8 in Freetown. He is facing two serious charges: Larceny by Servant, contrary to Section 17(i) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and Fraudulent Conversion of Property, contrary to Section 20(iv)(a) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, 26th April 2025, at the Pujehun Government Hospital in the Pujehun Judicial District, Southern Province, the accused who served as a storekeeper allegedly stole seventy-six cartons and thirty-three boxes of assorted free healthcare medical drugs intended for public use.

The second count alleges that the accused fraudulently converted the medical supplies, which were entrusted to him for safekeeping, for his own use or benefit.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Inspector Aminata Korio, prosecuting, requested a short adjournment to allow her to present the prosecution’s first witness. The accused was not legally represented in court.

Citing the serious nature of the offence, Magistrate Samura denied bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 23rd June 2025.
