The National Sports Authority has outlined guidelines for Inter-School competitions that are set to kick start next month.
According to Kelfala Stevens the director of participation at the National Sports Authority as an agency we have the statutory power for Sports that is we should be able to provide a framework so that it becomes an order work for the development of sports in the Country.
He affirmed that the school’s competition over the years has a great sector where a lot of talents developed for international assignments.
He added that “as an agency, we bring the guidelines with a strong belief that will serve as a framework that will involve all stakeholders, Principals and communities and pupils to have a round table discuss the rules and regulations that will be of benefits to the schools.”
He further than before lots of young players have identified through schools competition, the government bring a cleared plans to activate School Sports across the Country
“We have a mission which we are going to work on and the aim is to increase participation of school-going, pupils.”
Kelfala Stevens said the Mission of the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Basic Senior Secondary School Education interscholastic sport programmers are expected to have a fundamental purpose to promote participation in physical activity through regular competitive sports.
He is further that the mission is to provide sporting opportunities for schools and foster talent identification and team spirit, through competition. It is designed to pursue individual growth and development and to maintain high standards of behavior and respectful sporting attitudes.
The mission with NSA and (MBSSE) interscholastic sports will promote health, safety, and wellbeing of all children, provide accessibility for a diverse range of Sporting prospects and values, facilitate Youth transition and leadership development.
Kelfala Stevens said the main objectives of the school sports is to promote the enrichment of the school pupil experience within the context of the Educational mission of schools and contribute to the overall education of pupil and promotes citizenship, sportsmanship, fair play teamwork, respect, and health and welfare of all pupils not only during the school year.
