National Sports Authority delegation on 15th July 2022 held a successful meeting with the head of Unit Sports, European Commission Ms. Florence Van Houdt at the Commission headquarters in Brussels Belgium.
After a compelling presentation by the NSA team, the head of Unit Sport at the commission noted the under-mentioned areas with kneeling interest with high optimism for intervention.
Girl Child Sport in Sierra Leone, exchange University Programs in Sports, Coaching Opportunities for different Sporting Association in Sierra Leone, Administrative Courses/ training on Sports, Management, and administrative program for the National Sports Authority Staff.
During the meeting, the Commission identified a person with a clear mandate to serve as the link between the NSA and the Unit and also identified institutions for the Commission to explore for funding and other forms of support for the Authority.
The National Sports August also meets with Brussel Sporting Association host pledged to its commitment toward Administrative and Technical training course for Sport personal in Sierra Leone. The National Sports Authority will also have to meet with the Belgium Football federation to discuss Football development.
In his statement, Dr. Swaray briefed the Managing Director about the creation of the NSA and explained its roles and responsibilities relative to the Promotion, regulation, and development of sports, together with the required facilities and requisite training to ensure that Sierra Leonean athletes represent the country adequately on global platforms.
The Director of the Brussels Sports Association in Brussels, Madam Lizette Subach, explained the different sporting activities they were engaged in and how they encouraged kids to participate in those activities. She explained how far they had come from being just an informal group to becoming an established nonprofit body operating in Brussels.
The National Sports Authority has written an internal memorandum to all Sporting Association to be sent out to the correspondent Authority.
