NPSE Examination: Karene District to have 20 Centers

Karene District in the North-west region of Sierra Leone would be sending 4,986 candidates for the upcoming National Primary School Examination (NPSE) that is set to commence on the 28th May, 2021. This disclosure was made by the Deputy Director of Education Karene District Mr. Gibrilla Albert Sesay in an exclusive interview with A-Z Newspaper.

Speaking to this medium,  the Deputy Director of Education Karene District, Mr. Gibrilla Albert Sesay said the people of the district has expressed appreciation to  the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and President Bio for establishing National Primary School Examination Centres at their Chiefdom. Such Initiative was never realized, also considered this intervention as a means of reducing the high cost of transportation to access examination centers, reduce the rate of accident encounter by candidates using motor bikes, reduce the lodging challenges, and reduce the danger of crossing big rivers and other related challenges. He informed that he has assess the level of preparedness for each centre in the district and also distribution of erasers, sharpers and 2 B pencils around the 20 centers in the district.

On the level of preparedness, Mr. Sesay said him and his team are well prepared stating that previously the district had 12 centers but since the pronouncement of the President Bio that every Chiefdom should have an examination center, they were able to add 8 new centres with 4,986 candidates in Karene District set for this year’s National Primary School Examination. He continued that he had met with the Karene District Council, implementing partners in education, Teaching Service Commission, Free Quality School Education (FQSE), Conference of Principals (CPSS) and Head Teachers Council including the 20 centres and had fruitful discussion on the conduct of the upcoming Examination especially the 8 new Centres established for this year’s 2021 exam. Each of the 13 chiefdoms will now have one or more National Primary School Examination Centre.

He informed this medium that the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education has provided his office with five School Quality Assurance Resource and Monitoring Officers as the name has changed from Inspectors of Schools. He called on the five School Quality Assurance Resource and Monitoring Officers and examiners to know that examination malpractice is against the New Direction Administration policy and called on them to be vigilant during the conduct of the exams.

Mr. Sesay said the teachers are important factors and called on them to be committed and dedicated to the teaching field.
