On the 20th July 2023, the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) Launched the Third Quarter 2023 Public Procurement Price Norm at the main conference hall, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Tower Hill, Freetown.

The price norm is a document that has prices of commonly used items in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAS) of the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL). The purpose of the price norm is not to control the prices of commodities in the market but to ensure value for money in the procurement of goods, works, and services.

The Deputy Director of the Procurement Directorate at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Mr. Michael Lahai Swaray started his statement by congratulating the Chief Executive (CE) of the NPPA, Ibrahim Brima Swarray for his appointment as the next Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA).

He thanked the CE and his team on behalf of the Ministry of Finance for a job well done in raising awareness on the NPPA and transforming the Authority into an enviable institution. He emphasized the Impact of the Price Norm in reducing the price disparity of items across MDAs and encouraged practitioners to use the price norm as it aims at ensuring value for money.

The Chief Executive of the NPPA, Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swarray thanked the Board, Management, and Staff of the NPPA, public procurement practitioners, the fourth estate ( the media), and other stakeholders within the procurement landscape for making his journey worthwhile. According to him, he succeeded because of the unflinching support he received from them for the past five years. He further reminded them that the price norm is a law and it should be treated as such. He ended his statement by reminding everyone present that only Sierra Leoneans can make Sierra Leone and no one else. The program was climaxed with a question and answer session.
