Mohamed Munya Lahun a police officer made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two counts charge to wit Conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and Obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on diverse dates between 1st September and 30th November 2021 in Freetown with intent to defraud conspired together with other persons unknown to defraud Salamatu Sylba forte the total sum of twenty three thousand united States dollars equivalent to two hundred and forty one million five hundred and seventy thousand Leones (241,570,000) and on count two at the same place and date with intent to defraud obtained the said amount from the said complainant from her on the pretext that you will facilitate the movement of his nephews to the united States of America knowing same to be false.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of police Christiana Davies Cole ESQ.  

Second Prosecution witness (PW2) Musa Sannoh a business man said he recognized the accused person through his sister the complainant Salamatu Conteh and  recalled on a diverse dates between 1st September to 30th November 2021.  

Pw2 said he received a call from his sister informing him in respect of their nephew that she has transferred three thousand nine hundred United States dollars which she has been paying the accused person installation. The witness said he gave the accused person the sum of one thousand three hundred United States dollars which is part of the said amount and took snap shot of him and the accused person.

 The witness added that around November the complainant forward various orange money number to him which he transferred one million Leones to each numbers and the printed receipt of the orange money transaction was produce and tendered in court. He made statements to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters Pademba Road, Freetown and his witnesses.  

Defense counsel E.A Tarawalie cross examined the witness with several questions poised at him. He later renewed his previous Bail applications on behalf of the accused person.

 Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 25th April 2022.
