North West Region First Division Football Tournament Kicks off with Exciting Action

The North West Region Football Association First Division Tournament has kicked off on a high note, delivering thrilling matches and competitive football in the opening week across the region.

Fans were treated to displays of skill, determination, and sportsmanship as teams battled for early bragging rights. Several matches were closely contested, while others produced surprising outcomes, already sparking excitement among supporters.

In Lunsar, Marampa Stars and Great Scarcies FC played out a goalless draw. In Kamakwie, Sella Rangers, the giants of Sella Limba Chiefdom, were stunned by debutants Mambolo Young Stars of Kambia District, losing 1-0. Cheltenham FC shared the spoils with Masoya FC at the Kambia Mini Stadium. In Lungi, Shrewsbury FC secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over rivals Thorn Thorn FC. Today, Konta United FC will host Barcelona FC from Lunsar at the Masorie Playing Field in Bamoi Luma, Kambia District.

Competitions Officer Alhaji Sankoh expressed satisfaction with the level of organization and sportsmanship shown during the opening round, describing it as a strong foundation for the rest of the tournament.

With goals, drama, and thrilling performances already on display, the North West Region First Division Tournament promises to be one of the most entertaining seasons in recent years. Teams are now regrouping to prepare for Match Week Two, where the battle for promotion and regional glory continues.

Match Week 2 Fixtures: Masoya FC vs Konta United, Mambolo Young Stars vs Marampa Stars, Thorn Thorn FC vs Sella Rangers, Barcelona FC vs Shrewsbury FC and Great Scarcies vs Cheltenham.
