Students of Njala University in Bo have been celebrating the winning of Iye Abu for being elected as the first female President on Bo Campus. They have urged her to deliver on all the promises she made while campaigning to them.
Iye Abu from the Political Science Department got 1,236 votes while her challenger Mambu Lansana Vonjoe from Public Health Department got 118 votes on Tuesday night when the results were announced by the Students Union Electoral Commissioner.
The election which coincided with the second semester examination was largely peaceful, according to observers.

She said that “we are tired of having a male ruling Njala University, Bo Campus and this is our time to show the men that we are going to change the narrative of students union politics for the better. We are calling on Iye Abu not to disappoint us. She needs to deliver on her promises she made to the student body.”
Joseph Kamara who is a second year student in the Department of Sociology said that” let us give chance to the women to rule us and see if they can deliver on their promises. But I am quite sure she is up to to task.”
Baindu Ansu, a third year Public Health student said that” the students have spoken their minds through the ballot box and we want to see action from the new elected female president.
She said the students have many needs one being the delay in the publication of grades and missing grades which should be addressed.
