A Nigerian national, identified as Iwuchukwu Ebere Christian from Imo State, Nigeria, has been arraigned before the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 for alleged possession of forty-six (46) pellets of cocaine at Freetown International Airport, Lungi.
The accused is currently facing trial before *Principal Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah on four counts related to drug trafficking. These include: Transportation of prohibited drugs, Collection of prohibited drugs, Dealing in prohibited drugs and Possession of prohibited drugs without lawful authority
All charges are in violation of Section 7(b) of the National Drugs Control Act of 2008.
According to police reports, on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, Iwuchukwu Ebere Christian was allegedly found in possession of the illicit substance at the Freetown International Airport in the Port Loko Judicial District. He is accused of collecting and transporting the cocaine without lawful authorization, as well as being in possession of the 46 pellets at the time of his arrest.
When the matter was first brought before the court, no plea was taken from the accused. State Prosecutor Nathaniel Williams requested an adjournment, stating that he had just received the case file and needed time to prepare.
The accused was remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to 24 July 2025 for hearing.
