Nigerian National In Court For Alleged Fraud

Thirty-five years old Oyesiji Kabir Oyemiyi a building engineer and Nigerian national made another appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on a count of fraudulent conversion Contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (b) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on a date between 8th November 2022 and 25th January 2023 at Regent the western area in Freetown Fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is say ten thousand United States dollars equivalent to two hundred and forty four thousand Leones(2,44,000) entrusted to him by Richard Ashley for the purpose of buying a Tempered frameless glass property of the said Richard Ashley.

Assistant Superintendent of police Ibrahim S Mansaray lead Prosecution witness number two John Conteh an electrician said he recognized the accused person in the dock through winner’s Chapel Church.

 He recognized the complainant in the matter he recalled on a date between 28 November 2022 the witness said his sister gave the accused person money for tempered frameless glass, since then the accused person got missing.

 They called him and he never showed up, then he called him that he has work for him at Kingtom.

 Upon arrival, he was arrested by the police, the witness said the accused person at Kingtom police station gave two thousand dollar and promised to pay the remaining money the other month.

 Since then he didn’t hear from the accused person.

 Upon that he used another person, who called the accused person.

He told him that he had worked for him upon the arrival of the accused person he was arrested.

 The witness said he made statement at the Criminal Investigation Department CID headquarters Pademba Road Freetown.

The witness was cross examined by C.V Brown you were not at the house when the transaction took place the witness said he was present, you are aware that the tempered frame glass was at the site, the witness said no, he concluded.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba adjourned the matter to the 7th December 2023.

 Bail continues for the accused person.
