The newly appointed Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the Kono District, Andrew Demby, has declared a firm zero-tolerance stance on corruption. He made this declaration during a meeting with radio station managers and their representatives at his office in Bongalow Section, Koidu City.

The purpose of the meeting, as explained by Director Demby, was to familiarize himself with the media landscape in Kono District, particularly with the eight radio stations operating in the area. He also sought to reaffirm the ACC’s strong partnership with these stations in promoting accountability and good governance. Director Demby expressed his gratitude to the station managers for attending the meeting on short notice, noting that their presence was a clear indication of their commitment to supporting the fight against corruption in the district and the country at large.

“The role of the media in combating corruption cannot be overstated. The media has raised significant awareness about the work of the commission, contributing greatly to creating a corruption-free society,” Director Demby emphasized.

He also commended the radio station managers for offering their platforms free of charge to support the ACC’s efforts in ensuring the commission’s work is well-established in the region. Reaffirming his zero-tolerance policy on corruption, Demby assured the group that his leadership approach would be open and accessible, encouraging the station managers to reach out to him as needed in their collective efforts against corruption.

Director Demby shared with the audience that the Kono Regional Office of the ACC had filed at least two indictments, with the individuals concerned set to be arraigned at the Sefadu Magistrate Court in Koidu City on November 12, 2025. He urged the station managers to provide fair and balanced coverage of the upcoming case.

In conclusion, Director Demby called on all members of the community to collaborate with the ACC, emphasizing that accountability remains one of the key pillars of the commission’s mission.

On behalf of their fellow station managers, Dauda Kamara of SLBC and Problyn John Alpha of Radio New Song extended a warm welcome to Director Demby, wishing him success in his new role. They also pledged their unwavering support to the Director and the ACC. The two managers also thanked the ACC Commissioner, Ben Kaifallah, Esq., for sending a director with a legal background to Kono, a move they believe will greatly enhance the effectiveness of the commission’s work in the region.

Director Andrew Demby replaces Michael Sesay, the former Director, who, according to reliable sources, has been suspended indefinitely.
