New Egyptian Ambassador Pays Courtesy Visit to Tourism Minister

The new Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt designated to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Mounir Loufty has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt at the Ministry’s head office, Kingharman road in Freetown.

Ambassador Mohamed Mounir Loufty said the purpose of the visit is to introduce himself to the tourism Minister and to explore ways of cooperation between Egypt and Sierra Leone in the area of Tourism and also discuss several ideas for the growth of the tourism sector in Sierra Leone.

Minister Pratt in her remarks welcomed the Ambassador to Sierra Leone while telling him that there are lots of areas in the sector that need to be discussed. She mentioned the area of capacity building, manpower development in the area of hospitality, art and crafts and the restoration of heritage.

The minister said Sierra Leone is developing a partnership with Egypt that will see experts from Egypt train our people in the hospitality sector, getting some of our staff to do short term training in Egypt, develop partnership with hotel schools in Egypt and also attaching experts to the Ministry to aid in capacity building, noting that the concept note for all these idea would be sent to the Embassy.
