NeSPE Trained Women on Disaster Response

Network support for Peace Educating (NeSPE) in partnership with Action Aid has organized training on disaster management and resilience plan development on women led respond. The training took place at kagboro and Taimende chiefdom in Moyamba district.

The National Coordinator for NeSPE, George Gbanga in his statement revealed that the two chiefdoms many lives are lost and properties due to disaster that is either cause by manmade or natural disaster, adding that their organization is working in partnership with Action Aid to create awareness in the two chiefdoms.

He assured them that after the training resident will be able to form committees on how to handle and address disaster issues in their various chiefdoms, he further encouraged those in attendance to give meaningful ideas on how to handle disaster in their communities.

The Deputy Chief Administrator for Moyamba District Council, John Mansaray expressed appreciations to the two organizations for their timely support towards the district adding that the two chiefdoms are disaster prone especially during the dries.

He appealed to the community stakeholders to introduce bye-laws as a way of reducing manmade disaster, and assured them of council support at any time. The acting Paramount Chief of kagboro chiefdom, PC Alex Kamara in an interview commended NeSPE and Action Aid for such laudable venture and promised to implement whatever they have learnt positively to the rest of the community.  Assorted learning materials, Games and sport kits were donated by Action Aid and NeSPE sponsorship schools in the two chiefdoms.
